Dr. Warren Lee is the Senior Nutrition Officer and Group Leader of the Nutrition Assessment and Scientific Advice Group, Nutrition and Food Systems Division (ESN), FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy. Dr. Lee coordinates programs in nutrition assessment, human nutrient requirements, scientific advice on nutrition, and nutritional aspects of food losses and waste in the Division. Presently, he leads capacity development activities in FAO to support countries in integrating Minimum Dietary Diversity-Women (MDD-W, a qualitative dietary assessment tool with a dichotomous indicator to assess dietary diversity of women’s diets) into the national food security and nutrition information systems. Dr. Lee received his PhD degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong where he studied the effects of calcium supplementation on bone mineral growth and intestinal calcium absorption of children accustomed to low calcium diets. He is also a Registered Dietitian and Public Health Nutritionist.
